About the Position
 
Triple Ring is currently seeking a Senior Optical Systems Engineer who will assume responsibility for the creation and execution of innovative designs based on fundamental principles in optics, bio-medical optics, and imaging. In this position you will work on projects involving the design and development of novel, compact, high-performance optical systems ranging from near infrared through visible wavelengths. Some of your job duties would include the following: assume responsibility for the design and development of innovative optical measurement systems for applications in biomedicine and beyond, utilize design approaches ranging from die-level to conventional opto-mechanical designs, and analyze performance in cooperation with scientific and engineering staff. Qualified individuals must possess strong analytical and communication skills, be comfortable doing hands-on work, and be prepared to thrive in a collaborative environment.
 
 
As a member of the Triple Ring team, you will contribute to a variety of short and long‐term efforts across various projects and in a number of technical areas.  In this regard it will be important to be able to mix responsiveness to short term needs with the ability to keep up a level of effort on longer‐term projects.  Willingness to “start from scratch” in new technical areas is important.

Rate for this position will commensurate with experience.
 
Minimum Requirements
 
Masters (Ph.D. preferred) in Optical Engineering, Physics, or related technical field
3+ year’s experience
Expertise in design of imaging systems including lens systems
Expertise in optical detection technologies including photon detectors and imaging arrays
Knowledge of detection system performance factors and design tradeoffs
Ability to synthesize abstract system requirements into coherent designs with justifiable design choices
Knowledge of system design methods such as error budgets and simulation
Must be able to work with minimal supervision
Must have strong verbal and written communication skills
Must be able to work in a collaborative environment

Desired Experience
 
Minimum 3 years work experience in optical systems design. (Ph.D. work may substitute)
Experience with wide range of optical components and system design concepts
Experience with fiber-based and free-space optics
Familiarity with optical systems for bio-medical applications
